Mention the name Claude Williams Deane today in motoring circles and there’ll be blank looks all round. And yet, Claude Deane is one of the great pioneers of the motor car in Western Australia.

The life of this pioneer of the motor car is explored in a new book by Western Australian motoring historian Graeme Cocks who become intrigued when he began researching the arrival of the motor car.

For the first time, the new book Claude Deane. Western Australia’s Motor Dealer Extraordinaire tells the story of the rise and fall and rise again of Claude Deane and the circumstances which led to him leaving Western Australia and never returning.
