Conflict to Confidence teaches the WAIMA Warriors how to protect themselves if needed - learning some reality defence skills to be used at schools and in public.

Two sessions will be held on 23 June:

  • 1pm to 3pm session for 5-7 year olds
  • 3pm to 5pm session for  8-10 year olds

Each group will go through Personal Protection Skills:

  • Stranger Danger
  • School Yard Defence
  • Getting Home Safely
  • Confidence to deal with confrontation verbal and physical
  • Situational Awareness
  • Conflict Avoidance
  • Multiple Attackers

There will be three parts to each session - Technical, Physical, Scenario Training. The Scenario training will have the WAIMA Warriors go through an inflatable Ninja Obstacle Course testing the students' skills on what they have been taught and if they can perform under pressure. Parent Participation is COMPULSARY as there will be some strategies that parents will need to talk to their child with and also participate in some of the activities. At the end of the session, the students will receive a WAIMA WARRIOR certificate and wristband. Handout sheets will be available for parents, including tips if the child is being bullied, their safety network and the WAIMA Warrior Code. The sequence of what you need to do if you are being bullied is designed so they can take it home and put it up on the fridge or wall and learn the way of the WAIMA Warrior.

The cost of the session is $15 per child, with free entry for parents accompanying a child. For more information please call 0414 780 097 or email , and to book visit the event website.
